NASCAR Camping World Truck Series driver visits POET Biorefining – Coon Rapids

Tuesday, July 1, 2014

COON RAPIDS, IA (July 1, 2014) – POET Biorefining – Coon Rapids hosted Jeb Burton, a NASCAR Camping World Truck Series driver, today to highlight the benefits of ethanol for drivers.

“As drivers, we are proud to use Sunoco Green E15 because it’s not only better for our engines, but it’s better for the environment and supports jobs throughout the Midwest,” said Burton. “The ethanol industry has an important role to play in supporting our local economies. What folks are doing right here in Coon Rapids will help end our nation’s dependence on foreign oil.”

General Manager Bill Howell took Burton on a tour of the plant and also hosted a meet and greet with area producers. Howell discussed the economic and environmental benefits of ethanol for consumers, local businesses and rural economies.

“Over the past decade, the renewable fuels industry has added nearly $13 billion of income to the pockets of Iowans,” said Howell. “Making more of our fuel at home instead of paying billions of dollars to import oil from unstable, foreign countries means more money for Iowa’s economy and more jobs for our local communities.”

POET Biorefining – Coon Rapids is one of seven POET plants in Iowa and produces 54 million gallons of ethanol annually.
