The patented Load Toad™ technology that evenly distributes distillers’ dried grains onto rail cars is now available to all ethanol producers and companies that load grain, pellets or similar products.

The opportunity was unveiled today at the Fuel Ethanol Workshop in Indianapolis, IN.

The Load Toad distributes DDGS to the sides of the rail car. By distributing DDGS evenly, it loads more product onto each car. The technology was installed in POET plants in 2010, and those plants have been able to load 3-5% more DDGS into each car.

“Historically producers have shipped underweight railcars or resorted to shoveling,” Load Toad Business Director Ric Plath said. “Shoveling is back-breaking and time-consuming. Shipping cars that are not filled to capacity wastes fuel and leaves money on the table. LoadToad’s patented technology pushes product into empty corners to help producers get the most out of their DDGS transportation dollar.”
