POET General Managers to testify at public hearing

SIOUX FALLS, SD (January 22, 2014) – All seven Iowa POET General Managers will participate in “Hearing in the Heartland: Supporting the Renewable Fuel Standard” on Thursday, Jan. 23 in Des Moines, IA. This public hearing, organized by Iowa Gov. Terry Branstad and Lt. Gov. Kim Reynolds, will give public officials and biofuels supporters from across the Midwest the opportunity to testify about the importance of the Renewable Fuel Standard.

Those testifying include: Ken Osmonson, General Manager POET Biorefining – Ashton; William Howell, General Manager POET Biorefining – Coon Rapids; Greg Olson, General Manager POET Biorefining – Corning; Daron Wilson, General Manager POET Biorefining – Emmetsburg; Gary Eischeid, General Manager POET Biorefining – Gowrie; Kelly Hansen, General Manager POET Biorefining – Hanlontown; and Kevin Monroe, General Manager POET Biorefining – Jewell.

In November 2013, the Environmental Protection Agency announced plans to reduce the Renewable Volume Obligation written in the RFS for the first time ever. A 60-day comment period on the proposal ends January 28.

The event will be held at Hall of Laureates, 100 Locust Street, Des Moines, Iowa on Jan. 23 with comments beginning at 8:30 a.m.
